The Architect explains the nature of the Rulers and the Monarchs — two cosmic factions created by the Absolute Being to wage an eternal war. The Monarchs are the commanders of all monster life, built to destroy. The Rulers are beings of light created to protect civilisation. Ashborn was unique among the Monarchs because he chose not to destroy humanity. For this, the other Monarchs turned against him. The Architect tells Jin-woo that he has been prepared to carry Ashborn’s role and end the war once and for all.
